How to Cancel an ILL Request in MassCat

If you find you need to cancel an ILL request you have placed in MassCat, you will need to do the following.  (Note: Once you have sent out an ILL request, the lending library has immediate access to that request, so depending upon the timing of events you may still receive the item via ILL even though you cancelled your request.)

Login to MassCat using your library code, username and password.

Click on the “Staff Menu” button on the toolbar:

Click on the “Status Browse” option on the menu at the left side of the screen:

A split window will appear with Borrower status information on the left side and Lender status information on the right side.  Click on the link called “Pending” on the BOTTOM LEFT side of the screen.  (Note: Do not confuse this with the “Pending” titles on the right side of the screen.) :

A new browser window called: “Borrower’s Pending List” appears:

You will be presented with a listing of all the ILL requests your library placed within the last 30 days or more.  Find the title of the request you wish to cancel and click on that title.

The title will appear in a new window called “Borrower Full Record Display”:

Click on the drop down menu on the box labeled “Status” and choose “Request Cancel” from the list:

Click on the “Submit” button.

After a brief pause, the message: “Request Number xxxxxx has been updated,” will appear.  The status of your request is changed to “Pending Cancel” and will be completely canceled during an overnight process.

Close the window.
