The Western Massachusetts Regional Library System (WMRLS) provides direct and mediated Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services through its ILL Department at Regional Headquarters in Hatfield. The service is available to all member libraries regardless of size, and provides access to Regional materials collections and to the automated resources in which the Regional Library is a participant (C/W MARS and OCLC). Regional collections include: Headquarters Collection:
This collection is developed to fill ILL requests when the items needed
are unavailable from usual suppliers. The kinds of high demand materials
purchased for this collection include price guides, travel guides, health
trends, interests that are transitory or marginal, and materials that
often disappear from the shelves of member libraries. The Professional
Collection, a subset of the HQ Collection, consists of materials to support
librarians in the management, selection, and organization of their collections,
services, resources and personnel. Supplemental Collections
(Berkshire and Pioneer Valley): These collections were developed to
supplement public library collections in communities of less than 25,000
population. They also function as (but are not developed for) an Interlibrary
Loan resource. Collection strengths include: large print, fiction, unabridged
audiobooks and videocassettes. Requests for books, non-print materials, materials on a specific subject, and periodical articles may all be submitted to WMRLS ILL by Fax, WMRLS ILL (Title, Subject, or Periodical) Request Form, or by e-mail to wmrlsill@wmrls.org. Requests to be forwarded beyond Regional Collections must be submitted on either the WMRLS ILL Form (paper or electronic versions) or an ALA ILL Request Form. Instructions for completing the ILL request forms or other ILL processes are available. For additional information on ILL contact: Jan Resnick, Assistant
