We have gathered here ILL Policy samples from a variety of libraries. The policies are grouped according to library type:

MCBRIDE & DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY ILL POLICY
You must be a patron in good standing to place an interlibrary loan request through McBride & District Public Library.
We are unable to request materials that are published within the last 12 months, or that are in audio or video format.
Any patron can only have 2 active requests at any one time. Feel free to place more requests, and we will queue them for you, and place the orders in sequence.
As the McBride & District Public Library is responsible to the lending library for the timely return of ILL materials, overdue fines of $0.25 per day will be charged for late returns.
Renewals are decided by the lending library. If you would like to renew an ILL, please let us know in advance of the due date, to give the lending library time to respond.
EMERSON COLLEGE ILL POLICY FOR BORROWING FROM NON-FLO LIBRARIES
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available for books and non-rush journal articles. These materials are ordered from other libraries across the country. The Library will also order ERIC documents through ILL, as well as dissertations, videos, and CDs, if available. Books take about two weeks, on average, while journal articles and ERIC documents take 7-10 days. Some articles may be available through Rush Delivery.
This service is available only to students, faculty, and staff with valid borrowing privileges. Please be sure you have checked the Library Catalog carefully before submitting a request to determine if we own the material you need.
FRAMINGHAM STATE COLLEGE ILL POLICY
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is the cooperative exchange of items among institutions for the purpose of fulfilling the informational needs of their patrons. At Henry Whittemore Library, the Interlibrary Loan Office is responsible for borrowing materials that are not owned by the Library but are requested by Framingham State College faculty, staff and students. It also lends items to other institutions that make requests.
Whittemore Library belongs to the Minuteman Library Network. One of the benefits of network membership is a daily delivery of materials from other Minuteman Libraries to fulfill our patrons’ requests. Items are also exchanged with libraries and other institutions outside the network by mail, fax, and daily delivery.
Requests are usually processed within 48 hours of receipt. Most items are obtained within two weeks. Henry Whittemore Library strives to satisfy each patron’s requests, however, some items may not be available due to the item’s scarcity. Additionally, some items may only be available from institutions that charge a substantial lending fee.
MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE LIBRARY ILL POLICY
Interlibrary loans are transactions in which materials are made available by one library to another for the use of individuals. Mount Holyoke College Library offers interlibrary loan services to faculty, staff, students, and alumnae with local addresses. Please use the electronic forms to request a book or periodical article. You may also request the renewal of material you have on loan through ILL.
The interlibrary loan code for the Five College Libraries states that lending libraries will practice as liberal and unrestrictive a policy as possible. However, requests for loans are limited to those items the borrowing library does not own. Requests to borrow are made electronically from one library to another. Turnaround time for a request varies from three days to several weeks. Within the Valley, patrons should allow for one week to ten days.
Every effort will be made to locate requested materials at libraries that do not charge for services, but if the requested material is available only at libraries that charge, the Interlibrary Loan Office will inform the patron of all charges before requesting the material. Patrons are responsible for such charges.
Patrons will be notified by email when the item(s) have been received by the library.
Loan Periods:
Loan periods are determined by the lending library. Most allow a month to loan on books, but restrict periodicals, reference books, and microforms to one week. All interlibrary loans are subject to recall at any time by the lending library. Interlibrary loan materials must be returned to the Mount Holyoke College Library.
HOPKINTON HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY, CONTOOCOOK, NH
The Hopkinton High School Library
provides a wide range of materials that support and enhance the curriculum,
and that reflect the varying needs and interests of its students and faculty.
In this information-rich era, however, no school library can afford to be
self-sufficient, and a library's ability to provide access to resources beyond
its walls is a measure of its success.
For this reason, the Hopkinton High School Library participates in New Hampshire's
interlibrary loan (ILL) program. This means that we borrow and loan materials
in cooperation with other libraries, in compliance with the New Hampshire
InterLibrary Loan Protocol (1993).
Borrowing:
The
Hopkinton High School Library will provide the resources to meet the ordinary
needs and interests of its primary clientele. Consequently, material borrowed
from other locations will be limited to those items that do not conform to
our library's collection development policy, or for which there is no recurring
demand.
In borrowing from other libraries, the Hopkinton High School Library will
Lending:
The
Hopkinton High School Library will lend materials to all libraries that participate
in the New Hampshire ILL system. Each loan will be made at the discretion
of the Librarian, with the understanding that the needs of Hopkinton's students
and staff will take precedence.
In lending to other libraries, the Hopkinton High School Library will

What is Interlibrary Loan?
Ohrstrom Library's Interlibrary
Loan (ILL) service allows you to get materials which are unavailable at Ohrstrom
Library from other libraries. This is usually a free service. The length of
time it takes to get materials varies but generally takes two to three weeks
from the date of requests. In order to obtain these materials, the Library
follows the guidelines outlined below.
Ohrstrom
Library also lends materials to other libraries. The Library is an Online
Computer Center, Inc.* participant, a member of Nelinet, and a signatory to
the Nelinet reciprocal borrowing agreement.
We
are pleased to reciprocate with other academic libraries in no-charge borrowing
agreements.

Fill out the forms as accurately and completely as possible with a specific

Photocopy Requests Include:
Before you submit your request please check the Online Catalog to verify that
the Library does not own the material. Also, consult with a Reference Librarian
to make sure that you are not overlooking other useful materials the Library
may own.
Give
completed ILL forms to a Librarian in the Reference Office or at the Front
Desk.
Please
limit the number of requests you submit to five to seven items
at one time. If you submit more than three items please prioritize your submissions
in order of importance.
It
generally takes two to three weeks to search, request, receive and process
each ILL transaction. The time needed to fulfill an ILL request depends upon
the accuracy and completeness of the request, the difficulty in locating the
requested item, and the amount of workflow in the Interlibrary Loan Department
(both Ohrstrom's and the lending institution).
If your material is needed immediately check with a Librarian to see if alternative
materials or means to obtain requested items are available.
There
is generally no charge for items received through ILL. If we cannot find a
lender who will lend an item for free we will let you know. We may still be
able to get the item but there will be a charge. The Reference Librarian will
contact you to discuss this if needed.
Photocopies
for faculty and staff will be mailed to them. Books, photocopies for students,
and other material which must be returned to the lending library are held
in Ohrstrom Library. You will receive an e-mail or voicemail message when
your requested material arrives. Materials may be picked up and signed out
at the Circulation Desk.
Photocopies
are yours to keep. Books and other materials are usually loaned for a two
to three-week period with one renewal (if permitted by the lending library).
ILL renewals must be requested three days in advance of the due date. Call
or see the Reference Librarian for renewals.
Return
all borrowed materials at the Circulation Desk. The borrower is responsible
for the loaned materials; damaged or lost items must be paid for, at the cost
charge by the lending library.
The
Interlibrary Loan staff observes copyright regulations and will return requests
that appear to violate the law. For more information on fair use and copyright
laws, please view Middlebury College Library's Resources on Copyright Regulation.
Interlibrary Loan Policy
Mount Greylock Regional School Library Media Center is a source of a wide
range of materials including print, non-print and on-line databases for the
school and community to access. The resources strive to enhance the curriculum
and support the interests and needs of the students, faculty and community.
In order to accomplish this, the library participates in MassCat, a union
catalog of school, specialty and small libraries provided by Western Massachusetts
Regional Library System. As a member we agree to loan to and borrow from other
libraries across the state.

Interview the client to ensure that the MGRHS library cannot provide the necessary materials.
Provide interlibrary loan services to students and staff in good standing with this library.
Use the correct interlibrary loan form.

See to it that the materials are returned in the same condition received and on time. Individuals who lose, damage or are late with materials will be responsible for all charges.
Will respect any restrictions or limits placed by the lending library on the use of the materials.
Lending:
The Mount Greylock Regional School Library will lend materials to all libraries participating in MassCat. The needs of the students and faculty will take precedence over the requests of other libraries.
When lending to other libraries Mount Greylock Regional School Library will:
Loan all non-reference and non-permanent reserve books.
Loan material on a thirty-day basis.
Make copies of periodical articles, without charge, up to 20 pages (10 cents per page charge thereafter.)

Pay the postage costs for sending (only) when delivery is not an option.
Renew materials when called by borrowing librarian.
Not charge overdue fines.
Send bills to libraries that retain material beyond the 30 days for the full replacement cost, including processing fees.
Deny loans to libraries that consistently keep material beyond the 30
day limit calling to ask for a renewal.
INTERLIBRARY LOAN POLICY
Interlibrary loan (ILL) allows patrons to access materials between libraries. ILL is a resource sharing procedure which carries with it the responsibility to lend and the benefit of being able to borrow.
ILL is available to library patrons. Library staff will conduct a reference interview to identify the specific information requested and determine the citations(s).
As ILL is priority, interlibrary loan requests will be filled by the lending library the same day or by noon of the following day. Materials will be returned to the lending library within seven days of receipt of the material or as specified between the borrowing and lending library.
Patrons will be charged 10 cents per page for ILL photocopies and any fees imposed by the lending libraries.
